“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
Kenya, a founding nation of the East African Community, exudes extreme natural beauty. From abundant wildlife and dense forests to palm-lined beaches and bustling cities, Kenya is a vast treasure to explore.
In the face of this beauty, lies an ugly truth — mass poverty.
An estimated 20 million children are deprived of a basic need or needs, according to UNICEF. 13.1 million children have inadequate shelter and 7.8 million children do not have regular access to sanitary water. 26 percent of Kenyan girls under the age of 18 are married 26 percent of girls under the age of 18 are mothers.
We must work diligently to bring attention to the children in this country who are victims of violence and abuse that continue to go unnoticed and under-reported.
In Naivasha, Kenya the old town jail has been restored to serve as a safe house for children in emergency situations. Children are brought here whenever their homes are no longer a safe place to live. At the safe house, the children receive counseling and clinical services to help restore them both mentally and physically.
Operated by our ministry partner in Kenya, Orphan’s Heart has committed to funding the feeding program component of this life-saving ministry. Currently the feeding program provides one meal a day to the approximately 40 children living at the shelter.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
- Support our feeding program: Help sustain our long-term ministry with a financial gift. Give a gift today to change the lives of children.
- Pray for Kenya: Pray that the home lives of these children in crisis will be restored and that the children will be reunited with their families in safe environments.
Thank you for joining us on a journey to impact ONE MORE CHILD in Kenya!
